Hi MRSA is a Superbug called methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus . It is a bug that doesn't respond well to antibiotics and people die from it. I caught it when I had an episiotomy when Beauty was born and it was so bad my Doctor did not think I was going to recover!NICE! I have talked to other Americans who say it is not a problem in the US but approximately 90,000 deaths (http://medi-smart.com/mrsa.htm )in the US yearly are related to MRSA. I think it seems a bigger problem here because we are such a small place, more like the size of a US state rather than a country.A lot of people think that it is made worse by management of infection issues, poor hand washing technique, wearing uniforms to and from work..........that is why I whitter on a lot about it on my blog.I had a friend who died from MRSA so it scares the hell out of me. I couldn't sleep last night I was so worried about Beauty. I am off to Boots the Chemist today to buy gloves , hand wash, paper towels,wound sprays and dressings etc to do as much as I can to help the situation.
