There was one scene when Barbara was doing her mothers hair and toe nails and they played the song Que Sera which was my favourite song as a child(so that's where it came from!) and Barbara and her mum hugged and Barbara cried and so did I. That scene set me off.Nana told Barbara that last Christmas when she had the wish-bone she wished that she wouldn't have to go into a nursing home and she was so happy because her wish had come true.
Nana got to die with all her family around her and her end was everything any of us could ever want.
Yep it is official. I am a sap!
When I saw this episode I thought of my mother who had died at 69, way to early and I wished that she could have had such a long life, Nana was approximately 85 when she died and portrayed as having had a good life.
AND it looked liked Cheryl from next door( the nurse in Doctor Who-the Family of Blood) might end up with Twiggy(Onslow from Keeping Up Appearances)- their love of food, especially pork pies, appeared to bring them together at Nana's wake.
So all was well that ended well.

It is to my eternal regret that I never got into the Royles at all - I have never ever seen an entire episode and have always suspected that I'm missing out hugely. You've just confirmed it!
Thank God it's not here because I would be a blubbering mess. I cry at commercials, for crying out loud.
You mentioned Dr. Who. Were you able to see anyone film there? Was that a few years ago?
PBS is showing it here in Chicago and they seem to be in Cardiff a lot.
Funnily enough I never really saw the Royle family when it was on TV the first time but my eldest was a fan at the time so I did catch some of the shows and found them quite amusing.I do remember the filming of 51st State in the UK and Samuel L Jackson thought it was quite funny that none of the kids who hung around the filming new him but loved Ricky Tomlinson who plays Jim Royle in the Royle Family and kept using Jim's attractive phrase 'MY ARSE'.
The filming for Doctor who is constant in Cardiff(though Doctor Who is set in London, we play GUESS THE LOCATION) because when they are not filming Doctor Who they are filming Torchwood the brilliant spin off series. The only filming set I have passed is at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, I saw vans and lights but no actors and my daughter's friend's street was used in the final episode of the last series of Doctor Who.They also filmed at the Maelfa shopping centre which is close to where I live.
If my children saw filming and I found out the location then I would definitely go and watch.
